Higher Temperatures during Grain Filling Affect Grain Chalkiness and Rice Nutrient Contents

چکیده

High temperature effects attributable to climate change can affect rice quality. The chalky area of grains is often used evaluate grain starch quality, but the overall effect high temperatures on chalkiness and nutrient quality has not been fully clarified. Thus, in this study, we assessed weight, chalkiness, contents. Rice were classified into four groups basis scanned images: P (0%), S (0–15%), M (15–40%), L (≥40%). Then, amylose, protein mineral concentrations each classification. during filling markedly decreased weight amylose content milled increased as well most minerals. There significant negative correlations between contents both weights rice. These results indicate that increases areas due also increase

Transcriptional control of nutrient partitioning during rice grain filling.

Cereal grains accumulate carbohydrates, storage proteins and fatty acids via different pathways during their development. Many genes that participate in nutrient partitioning during grain filling and that affect starch quality have been identified. To understand how the expression of these genes is coordinated during grain development, a genomic approach to surveying the participation and inter...

Remobilisation of phosphorus fractions in rice flag leaves during grain filling: Implications for photosynthesis and grain yields

Phosphorus (P) is translocated from vegetative tissues to developing seeds during senescence in annual crop plants, but the impact of this P mobilisation on photosynthesis and plant performance is poorly understood. This study investigated rice (Oryza sativa L.) flag leaf photosynthesis and P remobilisation in a hydroponic study where P was either supplied until maturity or withdrawn permanentl...

Identification of Genomic Regions and the Isoamylase Gene for Reduced Grain Chalkiness in Rice

Grain chalkiness is an important grain quality related to starch granules in the endosperm. A high percentage of grain chalkiness is a major problem because it diminishes grain quality in rice. Here, we report quantitative trait loci identification for grain chalkiness using high-throughput single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping of a chromosomal segment substitution line population in which ...

Polyamines and ethylene interact in rice grains in response to soil drying during grain filling.

This study tested the hypothesis that the interaction between polyamines and ethylene may mediate the effects of soil drying on grain filling of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Two rice cultivars were pot grown. Three treatments, well-watered, moderate soil drying (MD), and severe soil drying (SD), were imposed from 8 d post-anthesis until maturity. The endosperm cell division rate, grain-filling rate,...

SWATH-MS Quantitative Analysis of Proteins in the Rice Inferior and Superior Spikelets during Grain Filling

Modern rice cultivars have large panicle but their yield potential is often not fully achieved due to poor grain-filling of late-flowering inferior spikelets (IS). Our earlier work suggested a broad transcriptional reprogramming during grain filling and showed a difference in gene expression between IS and earlier-flowering superior spikelets (SS). However, the links between the abundances of t...
